Research from P.R. Modi et al broadens understanding of nephrectomy

"The aim of this paper was to evaluate feasibility of retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy in a patient with nephrocolonic fistula due to tuberculosis. A 20-year-old female had presented with high-grade fever," scientists in India report. "Percutaneous drainage of the kidney for pyonephrosis was performed as an initial drainage procedure. Retrograde pyelography revealed a nephrocolonic fistula. Retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy with intracorporeal suturing of the defect in the colon was performed.
