Researchers detail in 'The impact of the International Monetary Fund's macroeconomic policies on the AIDS pandemic,' new data in pandemics. "Expansion of funding for HIV/AIDS, especially treatment, is under attack over concerns about cost effectiveness and financial constraints. The International Monetary Fund is deeply implicated in the history of the AIDS pandemic, the underlying weakness of health systems, and the ideology of constrained resources that underlies most attacks on AIDS funding," investigators in the United States report.
