Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, University Medical Center partner to enhance trauma care

Trauma patients in rural areas of southern Arizona will soon be treated by UMC physicians without having to spend precious time traveling to Tucson. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) and University Medical Center (UMC) in Tucson announced BCBSAZ's funding of a Telemedicine for Teletrauma & Critical Care program. The teletrauma program will facilitate the virtual presence of a UMC physician at nine participating hospital emergency rooms in southern Arizona. Teletrauma consultations can be done in real time on an as-needed basis. No appointment is necessary. The teletrauma program is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. ...
