New investigation results, "Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) on prostate needle biopsy: A clinicopathologic study of 8 cases," are detailed in a study published in The American Journal of Surgical Pathology. "Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are typically not included in the differential diagnosis of spindle cell tumors seen on prostate needle biopsy. However, their recognition is critical due to their unique clinical management," researchers in the United States report.
