Research from Stanford University broadens understanding of graft versus host disease

"Leukocyte scintigraphy has previously been used to evaluate gastrointestinal graft-versus-host disease (GVHD)," investigators in the United States report.

"No reports have described their utility in cutaneous GVHD or the ability of leukocyte scintigraphy to evaluate treatment response at any site. This case shows significant radiolabeled leukocyte uptake in a man with extensive cutaneous GVHD, with subsequent near complete resolution after therapy," wrote E. Mittra and colleagues, Stanford University.
