Guidelines Can Be Developed and Disseminated

It is possible to successfully develop and distribute guidelines for the treatment of vitiligo, according to a research team in the Netherlands.

M. D. Njoo and colleagues described their efforts to develop and introduce evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of vitiligo in children and in adults ("The development of guidelines for the treatment of vitiligo," Archives of Dermatology, 1999;135(12):1514-1521).

The research involved patients, residents, and dermatologists from the Department of Dermatology, Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, and the Netherlands institute for Pigmentary Disorders in Amsterdam.
