According to recent research published in the journal Transplantation Proceedings, "Renal transplant recipients receiving immunosuppression show an increased risk for developing opportunistic infections, such as tuberculosis (TB). TB represents the major cause of morbidity and mortality in the world, mainly in underdeveloped countries."
