Largest Synthetic Protein a Boost to Vaccine Research

Dr. James P. Tam, professor of Microbiology and Immunology, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, has helped design and construct the largest synthetic peptide in the world. It is a multipurpose structure with a proven potential for oral vaccine research.

In a recent study published in the journal Vaccine, Tam and colleagues found that the lipid-linked synthetic peptide dendrimer is effective in initiating cellular and humoral immunity both systemically and at mucosal sites in the body.
