Tbp2 Appear to Inhibit Meningococcal Growth

Transferin-binding protein 2 (Tbp2) displays protective activities similar to those conferred by transferrin-binding protein complex and could be considered as a meningococcal vaccine antigen on its own, according to a report from France.

Because the meningococcal transferrin receptor was shown to elicit bactericidal and protective antibodies in laboratory animals, researcher Ling Lissolo et al. undertook a study of the protective role of each of the polypeptides within the Tbp1-Tbp2 complex.
