"Inhibition of Expression of HIV-1 In Vitro by Antibody-Targeted Liposomes Containing Antisense RNA to the Env Region."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 5th International Symposium on Delivery and Targeting of Peptides, Proteins and Genes, held May 17-20, 1995, in Leiden, The Netherlands, "Expression of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can be at least partially inhibited by synthetic antisense oligonucleotides. Oligodeoxynucleotides complementary to a segment of the viral genome, e.g. the tat-E gene splice acceptor and donor sites, display significant inhibitory effects on viral expression of HIV cultured cells.
