In earlier study researcher Fiona J. Wallace and colleagues developed a rodent model in which the presentation of whole killed bacterial lung pathogens (non-typeable H. influenzae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) either orally or by subserosal injection, has led to an enhanced rate of bacterial clearance from the bronchial spaces and lung tissue.
