According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 19th International Congress of Chemotherapy, held July 16-21, 1995, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, "There are currently over 100 protocols that have been presented for the treatment of patients with cancer and several that target genes expressed in HIV infection. Viral approaches include the use of retroviral vectors, adeno-associated viral vectors, adenovirus or herpes virus. Nonviral approaches include liposome delivery or biobalistic delivery using plasmid coated gold beads.
