According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Progress in Clinical Virology meeting, held September 10-14, 1995, in Prague, Czech Republic, "A selective hepatitis B vaccination programme to avoid professional hazard among health care workers has been introduced in Bulgaria since 1988. In this retrospective seroepidemiological study we evaluated the presence of vaccine response (the level of anti-HBs) in vaccinees. A total of 336 surgeons, laboratory and hemodialy department workers given HBV vaccine were investigated. Anti-HBs titres after basic immunization were found in 51.48%.
