According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the European Conference on Tropical Medicine, held October 22-26, 1995, in Hamburg, Germany, "Active, recombinant hepatitis B (HBV) vaccination has been available since 1986, whereas active hepatitis A (HAV) vaccination has been on the market only since 1993. Previous studies investigated safety and immunogenicity of the single vaccines against HAV and HBV infections.
