"HLA Class I Alleles in a Cohort of HIV-1 Highly Exposed, Persistently Seronegative (HEPS) Sex Workers (CSWs) in Northern Thailand."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 3rd Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections, held January 28 - February 1, 1996, in Washington, DC, "To screen for immunogenetics markers associated with HEPS, 23 HEPS CSWs with an employment duration of at least 3 years, 2 or more documented STDs, and a negative ELISA for HIV-1 were HLA class I serotyped for alleles encoded by the HLA-A, -B and -C gene loci. HLA-A, -B and -C allele frequencies detected in the HEPS CSWs were compared to a panel of 193 ethnically-matched healthy northern Thai controls. Results: HLA-A11, B18 , B52 and B77 were detected at significantly increased frequencies (P<0.05)...
