Cancer Immunotherapy with Bacterial Superantigen Staphylococcal Enterotoxin A

An immunoconjugate consisting of the bacterial superantigen Staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA) and a colon carcinoma monoclonal antibody induces cell surface leukocyte activation markers in colon carcinoma patients.

SEA is a potent T-cell specific mitogen that activates >10 percent of T cells following crosslinking of TCR V(beta) regions with MHC class II molecules. By combining SEA with the Fab-fragment of C242 monoclonal antibody which recognizes LeA, a glycoprotein over-expressed in colon/pancreatic carcinomas, a recombinant E. coli-derived fusion protein labelled LS4565 was created.
