According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 11th International Conference on AIDS, held July 7-12, 1996, in Vancouver, British Columbia, "Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of conducting preventive HIV vaccine trials in gay men in the United States. Methods: HIV seronegative homosexual men reporting anal intercourse or syphilis, gonorrhea, or nongonococcal urethritis in the 12 months prior to study entry were recruited into the CDC collaborative vaccine preparedness study in Chicago, Denver and San Francisco.
