Pivotal Phase III Trial of Intranasal Influenza Vaccine Initiated

Aviron, Mountain View, California, announced the initiation of pivotal Phase III trials of the company's lead product - the most advanced intranasal influenza vaccine currently in clinical trials - designed to prevent influenza virus related disease.

The intranasal influenza vaccine is tested in a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study in more than 900 children aged 15 through 71 months of age in a multi-center trial in collaboration with the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), with whom Aviron has entered into a Collaborative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) in...
