"Evaluation of Delayed-Type Hypersensitivity (DTH) and T-Cell Proliferative Responses in a Trial of Four Dosages of BCG in Healthy Adult Volunteers."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 36th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, held September 15-18, 1996, in New Orleans, Louisiana, "Murine studies have demonstrated that low dose immunization results in better protection against such intracellular pathogens as Leishmania major. We conducted a pilot study in order to address immune responses to four dosages of BCG in healthy adult volunteers. Method: Seventy-four adults (ages 18-44) with baseline negative HIV and tuberculin skin tests were randomized to receive high (100 mg/ml), standard (50 mg/ml), low (1 mg/ml), or very low (0.05 mg/ml) dosages of the Tice strain of BCG...
