FDA Licenses Acellular Pertussis Vaccine for Infant Use

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed the Tripedia (Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids and Acellular Pertussis Vaccine Adsorbed) vaccine for use in infants two, four, and six months of age and for the first booster dose at 15 to 20 months.

Tripedia (Connaught Laboratories, Inc., Swiftwater, Pennsylvania) has been licensed in the U.S. for the fourth and fifth doses for immunization of children 15 months to seven years of age (prior to seventh birthday) who previously have received three doses of whole cell DTP vaccine.
