"Vaccinia Virus Recombinants Displaying HIV Envelope Antigen on their Outer Membrane."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 10th International Congress of Virology, held August 11-16, 1996, in Jerusalem, Israel, "The possibility of targeting foreign antigens to the surface of vaccinia virions by construction of chimeric proteins, using the transmembrane domain of vaccinia virus external protein, was investigated. Vaccinia virus gp42, (encoded by the BSR gene), is a type I integral membrane glycoprotein, located on the outer membrane of extracellular virions (EEV).
