"PreS1 Antibody Response Induced by DNA-Mediated Immunization."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Proceedings of the 1996 Shanghai International Symposium on Liver Cancer and Hepatitis, held March 5-7, 1996, in Shanghai, China, "DNA-mediated immunization is a new approach to vaccine development. It has been reported that the direct introduction of the plasmids containing various envelope gene sequences of HBV into mice could induce good immune response. However, only the antibodies against both S and preS2, but no antibody to preS1 could be detected, when the native L protein coding sequences were used.
