"Immunogenicity of Sequestrin, a Cytoadherence Molecule of Plasmodium falciparum, in Congenic Mice."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, held December 1-5, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland, "Mature forms of Plasmodium falciparum infected erythrocytes evade immune recognition by expression of cell surface proteins which adhere to host endothelial cells through specific receptors. This phenomenon, known as sequestration, is thought to be responsible for the pathology related to cerebral malaria.
