"Anti-HVR1 Antibody is Cross-Reactive to Unrelated HCV in Virus Capture and Peptide ELISA."

Published in Vaccine Weekly, April 14th, 1997

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 4th International Meeting on Hepatitis C Virus and Related Viruses, Molecular Virology and Pathogenesis, held March 6-10, 1997, in Kyoto, Japan, "In order to investigate the cross-reactivity of antihypervariable region 1 (HVR1) antibody (Ab) against hepatitis C virus (HCV) in HCV infection, we prepared mouse anti-HVR1 Ab against HCV#6 isolate (anti-#6 Ab), and examined it for the cross-reactivity to other HCV isolates. The anti-#6 Ab captured the free particle of HCV No7 in vitro and bound to HVR1 peptide of No7 in ELISA, in spite of only 58.1% homology of HVR1 sequence between the two isolates. To determine the general frequency...
