According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, held December 1-5, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland, "Mice vaccinated with recombinant IrV-5, a 62- kDa antigen with sequence similarity to myosin or ECL3, the 5'-half of a 200- kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored surface protein that has little similarity to any protein sequences in the database, show a 50-60% reduction in worm burden following challenge.
