"E. coli Surface Antigens (CS) Associated With Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) Isolated from Persons With Traveler's Diarrhea LEFTP

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, held December 1-5, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland, "Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is an important cause of travelers, diarrhea (TD) in tropical countries. ETEC isolates from cases of TD in Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines were examined. DNA probes coding for toxin specific genes were used to identify ETEC and monoclonal antibodies were employed to identify coli surface (CS) adhesins.
