According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Keystone Symposia on Molecular and Cellular Biology entitled AIDS Pathogenesis, sponsored by Abbott Laboratories and the Director's Sponsor Fund, held April 8-13, 1997, in Keystone, Colorado, "To characterize the evolution of protective immunity in monkeys experimentally infected with various attenuated strains of SIV, we used a comprehensive panel of serological assays to assess the progression of viral envelope-specific antibodies. Results of these studies reveal remarkable differences between protective and nonprotective antibody responses, and further demonstrate that the evolution of protective immunity in SIV infected monkeys...
