Last State-Owned Vaccine Lab and Sole Producer of Anthrax Vaccine is For Sale

The nation's last, state-owned vaccine lab and the only licensed maker of anthrax vaccine for the military is for sale.

This agency also is one of only two remaining manufacturers of intramuscular immune globulin (Ig) in the U.S.

According to a ProMed Internet communication, the State of Michigan says it has placed an advertisement in Wednesday's Wall Street Journal announcing the sale of the 71-year-old Michigan Biologic Products Institute (ProMed vol. 97/no. 185; July 21, 1997).
