According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the conference Vaccines Beyond 2000, held July 6-9, 1997, in Queensland, Australia, "Immunity to malaria sporozoites is mediated by T cells and antibodies. Both CD4 and CD8 T cells have been shown to play critical roles. We have undertaken a study to define CD4 and CD8 T cell epitopes on the vivax circumsporozoite (CS) protein and to identify factors responsible for immunogenicity.
