According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Sixth European Conference on Clinical Aspects and Treatment of HIV Infection, held October 11-15, 1997, in Hamburg, Germany, "Background: In our prior trials of therapeutic immunization with rgp160 an effect on CD4- counts of the same magnitude as AZT monotherapy has been observed. Objective: To investigate if these preliminary findings could be substantiated in a larger double blind placebo controlled trial and translated into a more benign clinical course. Design/Methods: 835 HIV seropositive patients in Scandinavia with CD4 counts above 200 were randomized to receive 160 mg baculovirus...
