"National Adenovirus Surveillance and Typing among High Risk Military Populations."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases, held March 8-11, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia, "Objective: Adenovirus is a major cause of pneumonia and acute respiratory infection among military recruits. The commercial production of adenovirus vaccines types 4 and 7 has been recently suspended and remaining stocks of vaccine are being rationed for use during winter months only. This study is determining the distribution of adenovirus serotypes among military trainees at high risk of respiratory disease and the clinical impact of vaccine loss.
