According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 8th International Congress on Infectious Diseases, held May 15-18, 1998, in Boston, Massachusetts, "Hepatitis B virus infection is a major occupational health hazard in the health care sector. Vaccination against HBV infection and careful attention to hygiene and safety procedures is the mainstay of prevention of this serious occupational hazard. 148 hospital employees were examined at different time periods after immunization with recombinant DNA Hepatitis B vaccine (Engerix-B) according to recommended intramuscular method.
