Technology Invented for Cancer and Infectious Diseases

Immunomedics, Inc., Morris Plains, New Jersey, announced the issuance of a U.S. patent to the company covering vaccines that evoke immune responses against tumor cells and infectious agents.

According to the inventor, Dr. Hans J. Hansen, Immunomedics, "The invention is called a 'multi-stage cascade boosting vaccine,' because it combines two vaccine technologies with certain cytokines, whereby the anticancer or anti-infection antibodies are given first, followed by anti-idiotype vaccines that mimic the cancer or infectious agent against which immunity is desired."
