Hepatitis B Vaccination Controversy Rages On

According to ABC television's 20/20 special titled "Who's Calling the Shots'," the hepatitis B vaccination controversy rages on. Sylvia Chase moderated a segment on this issue on the January 22, [1999], program.

Public health officials claim the vaccine is safe and effective. In 36 states, the law requires most children to be vaccinated for hepatitis B before they enter school. However, some health care workers and parents debate the vaccine's safety. They believe the hepatitis B vaccine may have debilitating effects on adults as well as children.
