"Induction of Cellular Immune Responses in HIV-1 Seronegative Volunteers with a DNA Vaccine."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 6th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections, held January 31 - February 4, 1999, in Chicago, Illinois, "DNA vaccines have demonstrated, in a number of animal models, the induction of both antigen specific cellular responses. We are currently testing a facilitated DNA based vaccine in a Phase I clinical trial. The vaccine encodes HIV-1 proteins, env and rev. Sequential groups of 6 subjects each received 3 doses of vaccine at the same concentration (100 (mu)g, or 30 (mu)g) at entry, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks, with a booster scheduled for 6 months.
