Multistage, Multicomponent Vaccine Produces Antiparasitic Activity

"Compared with a single-stage antigen-based vaccine, a multistage and multivalent Plasmodium falciparum vaccine would be more efficacious by introducing 'multiple layers' of immunity," wrote U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researcher Ya Ping Shi and colleagues ("Immunogenicity and in vitro Protective Efficacy of a Recombinant Multistage Plasmodium falciparum Candidate Vaccine," Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, February 16, 1999;96(4):1615-1620).
