Dendritic Cells Predict HBV Vaccination Success

Animal studies suggest antigen-presenting dendritic cells have prognostic value in determining the success of vaccine therapy in hepatitis B virus carriers.

In this study, researcher S.M. Akbar and colleagues from Japan's Ehime University sought to identify a prognostic marker of vaccine therapy using an animal model of HBV-carrier state, HBV-transgenic mice (Tg) ("Prognostic Importance of Antigen-Presenting Dendritic Cells During Vaccine Therapy in a Murine Hepatitis B Virus Carrier," Immunology, 1999;96(1):98-108).
