With little scientific evidence to back them, these groups warn that the vaccine should not be given routinely to infants because, they claim, it increases the risk of multiple sclerosis, sudden infant death syndrome, autism, diabetes, and a host of autoimmune diseases, according to a report in the July 7, 1999 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
