Combined Hepatitis A and B Vaccine is Cheaper in Long Run

A combined hepatitis A and B vaccination strategy, while initially more expensive, can actually save public health dollars in the long run according to a review of such strategies.

The report was one of several dealing with a combined hepatitis A and B vaccine published in the February 2000 issue of Vaccine.

A recent study in Germany analyzed the epidemiological and economic impact of combined hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccination of all one- to 15-year-olds or of all 11- to 15-year-olds projected over three periods of 10 years compared with a strategy of non-vaccination.
