Vaccine Candidate Announced

Cel-Sci Corp., Vienna, Virginia, announced that it has identified a novel vaccine candidate for the treatment of HIV.

The vaccine would be used in conjunction with antiviral drug therapy to stimulate an anti-HIV immune response in order to: (1) see if it can eliminate the remaining reservoirs of virus; (2) increase disease-free survival time; (3) reduce or eliminate the need for changes to patients' treatment regimens due to the development of drug resistance; (4) maintain stimulation of the immune response to HIV in patients whose antigen has been reduced by the anti-retroviral therapy; and (5) lower treatment costs.
