Vaccine Reduces Middle Ear Infections

by Maryclaire Lindgren, staff medical writer -- A new vaccine is effective in reducing the acute middle ear infections that are so common in infants.

"The heptavalent pneumococcal polysaccharide-CRM197 conjugate vaccine is safe and efficacious in the prevention of acute otitis media caused by serotypes included in the vaccine," reported T. Kilpi and associates at the National Public Health Institute in Finland.
