C.J. Harrison and colleagues at Creighton University, Nebraska, evaluated imiquimod alone or in combination with HSV vaccine in animals inoculated genitally with HSV. Their findings were published in Vaccine.
Animals infected with HSV-2 were allowed to recover, then randomized to receive placebo, imiquimod alone for days 16 through 37, or the imiquimod regimen in addition to HSV-2 glycoprotein vaccine on days 16 and 37.
