NIH Uses Bioject's Needle-Free Injection System For DNA AIDS Vaccine Study

The Biojector 2000 (B-2000) has been chosen by the Dale and Betty Bumpers Vaccine Research Center (VRC) as the delivery device for its first AIDS vaccine in human clinical testing. The B-2000 was developed by Bioject Medical Technologies (BJCT), which specializes in needle-free drug delivery systems. The VRC is part of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Participants will be given three 1 ml intramuscular injections in the upper arm with the B-2000 system, the only needle-free device cleared by the FDA to give intramuscular injections.
