Antibiotic-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae emerges in Vietnam

"Surveillance for Streptococcus pneumoniae resistant to penicillin and other antimicrobial agents is necessary to define the optimal empirical antibiotic therapy for meningitis in resource-poor countries such as Vietnam," state researchers in England.
