Combining DPT and hepatitis B vaccine may be cost-effective in Thailand

According to a study from Australia and Thailand, "Combined vaccines have been advocated as an efficient method of pediatric vaccine delivery. This study examined the performance and cost implications for the use of combined diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis-hepatitis B (DTP-HB) vaccine in the Thai immunization program."

"Separate DTP and HB and then combined DTP-HB vaccines were used in the infant immunization program in Chiangrai Province during a 4-year period," wrote Supamit Chunsuttiwat and collaborators at the University of Melbourne and the Burnet Institute in Australia and the Thai Ministry of Public Health and Sawanpracharak Hospital in Thailand.
