According to a study from the United States, "Organ transplant recipients are vulnerable to a variety of infections because of the immunosuppressed state required to prevent organ rejection. On 23 September 2002, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC; Atlanta, GA) presented a detailed operational plan for large-scale smallpox vaccination, and the U.S. President has now officially recommended this course of action."
