Unlike traditional vaccines, DNA vaccines do not expose patients to pathogens, but rather express one or more genes from the disease agent, along with ancillary genes to program the immune response by the patient.
NTC scientists optimized the DNA vaccine delivery platform (vector) to outperform previous state-of-the-art vectors.
"Optimized vectors should overcome current technical limitations," said company spokesman Clague Hodgson, "including effectiveness, safety, and productivity."
