Paper highlights preclinical results of HIV peptide vaccine

Generex Biotechnology Corp. (GNBT) announced publication of a scientific paper from its Antigen Express immunomedicine subsidiary reporting progress in developing a novel peptide vaccine for HIV.

The Antigen Express Ii-Key peptide technology boosts the presentation of T-helper cell-stimulating, MHC-class-II-presented peptides to the immune system. In this study, mice immunized with Ii-Key peptide hybrids of peptide epitopes from two different HIV proteins (gp160 and gag) had significantly more potent immune responses, as measured in vitro by ELISPOT analyses, than did naked MHC class II epitope-only peptides.
