Man accused of falsely telling woman he gave her AIDS

Published in Vaccine Weekly, February 11th, 2004

An Erie, Pennsylvania, man has been charged with terroristic threats for falsely telling a woman that he gave her AIDS, police said.

Richard Forness, Jr., 22, of Erie, was also charged with harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from the alleged incident.

A woman told police in December, 2003, that she had sex with a man she had met on the Internet. When she returned home, police said, she received a computer message saying that the man had AIDS and was going to pass the disease to everyone he could.

Police arrested Forness the week of January 5, 2004.
