Blood test for heart attack may be sold

The Cleveland Clinic has received $6 million from an Arkansas company to help develop and sell diagnostic tests, including a blood test that could determine if someone is at risk for having a heart attack.

The clinic on January 19, 2004, announced the investment by ExOxEmis of Little Rock, Ark.

The company also will develop tests to help diagnose asthma and similar diseases, said Eric Topol, chief academic officer and chairman of the department of cardiovascular medicine.
